Though, still in its early stage, we will be on the watch if Udux can ever catch up with Boomplay on user base.
Both Boomplay and Udux music apps leverage on the streaming music trends to drive people to use their subscription. Udux prides itself as the First Nigerian Domestic streaming app. This means they focus only on streaming of music and video. You cannot download music file to your phone on the udux app. You can only download for offline play. Boomplay offers both music streaming subscription and music download to its user device. Downloading music on the platform goes for 20 naira.
Content Distribution partners on the Boomplay Music app are numerous. They also make it simple for new music company to register as an aggregrator . An indie music artist with a registered music name can also register to get his or her content on the platform. Transsnet Music Limited made the process as simple as possible. On the other hand, you cannot get on the platform as a distribution partner on Udux as at the time of writing this article. The only content partner they have on their platform which is BridgeTunes is hard to reach. They however put a coming soon section for content distribution for artist.
The last we will discuss about the differences is the countries of operation for both apps. Boomplay is available in some of the music hotspot across the continent. It’s available in Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and major sub Saharan African countries. Udux is only available in Nigeria, looking to expand into Ghana music industry soon.
